3x Foolproof Ways to Stop Undercharging

3x Foolproof Ways to Stop Undercharging

Do you ever find yourself, head in hands, groaning “why... why, why?! How did I do it again? I’m selling my work for peanuts… 😭“?

“I’m meant to be out on my own so I can make more money and have more freedom!”

We’ve all been there. 🙋

On the dreaded undercharging-train.

Afraid of hearing ‘no’, you drop your prices last minute or offer a discount.

Ouch!

And pretty soon overwhelm sets in.

As you don’t really have enough money coming in and you also don’t have enough time because you’ve got all these jobs working for peanuts!

I’ll spare you the pain of reliving this any longer.

How can you go from ‘fear-of-rejection-discounting’ to owning your badass prices like a boss babe (or dude)??

3x foolproof ways to stop undercharging;

Step 1: Create your kickass prices

First things first, let’s get you prices that make you feel like a million bucks!

Your prices need to be high enough that you feel ‘nourished’ by the money you’re receiving in exchange for your time and energy but not too high that you don’t feel confident you can deliver on that value and hence you avoid the sale.

Within that range, you can honestly pick anything.

Remember, all pricing is completely made up and it’s also personal.

So, pick something that feels good to you and give it a go! You can always adjust down the track.

Step 2: Embrace rejection like it’s your BFF

If you’re serious about getting paid your dream prices and valuing your work - you have to do just that, stand up for your prices and your value.

Too many people cave and put down their rates or discount because of how much others value their work (or more often than not, how much they think others value it!)

You have to be ready not to take on anyone else’s value system and get really comfortable with rejection.

I kid you not, this will be your secret sauce to success!

See rejection as a success!

It means you’re weeding out the people that aren’t right for you and you’re one step closer to the next person that is right for you.

Detach from the sale, don’t take the rejection personally and put make your offer again to the next person.

Step 3: Create a discount free zone 🙅

Now you know that you need to set your dope AF prices and that becoming BFFs with rejection will be your secret sauce to getting paid them, the next thing is sticking to them!

For this final step I suggest that you set yourself a 30-day period (people often find it easier this way) and pinky swear you won’t under any circumstances a) lower your prices or b) offer a discount.

You will tell anyone that asks (your bae, your grandma or your old boss) your full price.

The secret to doing this? Being completely ok with a big ass ‘excuse me, how much did you just say?!’ or ‘ahhh, no, thanks’ aka rejection.

Now before we finish… what might stop you and make this strategy not-so-foolproof?

Your relationship with money.

That sneaky bugger will have you procrastinate, say you'll start next week, say you'll do it later, freak out or completely forget about it (hello self-sabotage!).

Conclusion

The long and short of it is that not only does undercharging suck bliss balls, it's also unsustainable over the long-term in achieving your ambitions of freedom and massive impact.

We all go through that icky phase (or phases) when we find it hard to value ourselves, our work or that we deserve to be paid for doing something we love.

The most important thing to know is that you can change it & get paid like the bad ass bi** you are!

One brave pricing increase step at a time 💪

You've got this. I believe in you.
